Meeting with Ministry of Education
The Monastic Education Development Group (MEDG) Steering Committee Monks met with National Minister at Ministry for Education in Naypyitaw on March 6th 2017In the meeting, the monks discussed the current education system, and the extension of the monastic education system to include middle and high school levels.
The MEDG steering committee indicated its willingness to cooperate and collaborate with the Ministry of Education, especially to Myanmar’s education reform process.
MEDG conducted teacher training from March to April 2017. The 37 day course was attended by 325 teachers from 143 Monastic Education schools. They came from 8 states and regions. 36 MEDG trainers ran 12 Yaung Zin Based Core Competency Training courses in various locations with 25 participants in each course. 2 out of the 12 courses included Non-Formal Education lessons for the out of school children.
Administration and Management Training
In March 2017, MEDG conducted Administration and Management training. The 18 days courses was attended by 87 School Principals and office staff from 6 states and regions. 17 trainers ran 3 training courses at Phaung Daw Oo monastic education school.
